The video for one of this year’s most hyped releases, Wayne Marshall’s Go Hard, which showcases seven of the scene’s most talented lyricists, dropped earlier this week.
It’s a good look for the genre because collaborative efforts such as these are so rare it may take another 20 years before we get to see or hear another.
The last time we remember such a large number of top dancehall artists – from different labels and crews – linking up for one track was in 1995: Anything for You ft Snow, Nadine Sutherland, Buju Banton, Beenie Man, Terror Fabulous and Louie Culture (above).
Sutherland told the Jamaica Gleaner newspaper, that on the day of recording, the energy in the studio ‘…was off the hook. Everyone was creating on the spot. It’s a true indication of the talents of these young men at the time.’
Clearly, unity is strength, and the results speak for themselves: more of this please. Check out the videos above and oaccessjamaica.com for more info on Go Hard.
